Court confirms continuation of concession

Clear Channel Netherlands will remain responsible for the operation of RET's advertising objects in Rotterdam and the surrounding area. On 1 April 2025, the Court of Appeal of The Hague ruled in the appeal concerning the RET concession. After an earlier confirmation by the Rotterdam District Court, both Clear Channel and RET were again vindicated.

With this ruling, the concession is definitively secured and the city of Rotterdam will be part of Clear Channel's portfolio for the coming years.

One of the largest concessions in the Netherlands

The concession includes the management, maintenance, damage repair and operation of over 2,800 analogue advertising objects, including bus shelters and metro panels, across:

  • Rotterdam
  • Vlaardingen
  • Albrandswaard
  • Barendrecht
  • Randstadrail stations

Station domination at strategic metro and station locations is also covered by this concession. The contract started in August 2024, has a term of five years, and includes an option for a one-year extension.

Clarity and confidence for the future

"Since 1 August, we have been responsible for operating RET's analogue advertising objects in Rotterdam and the surrounding area. It is nice that today's ruling has cleared up the ambiguity surrounding this concession and it is clear to both the market and ourselves that the city of Rotterdam will be part of our portfolio for the coming years as well,"

said Wierish Debipersad, Commercial Director at Clear Channel Netherlands.

With this final allocation, Clear Channel strengthens its position in one of the most important urban areas in the Netherlands and offers advertisers continuity and reach in the busy Rotterdam region.
