Green milestone for sustainable outdoor advertising network

Bauer Media Outdoor reached a special milestone in 2022 with the installation of its 700th bus stop with sedum roof. What started in Utrecht in 2018 with the installation of 300 green bus stops has grown into a nationwide network of sustainable, nature-friendly waiting areas in places such as Gouda, Zaandam, Dordrecht and Tilburg.

Sustainability visible on the street

At the unveiling, Rik Grashoff, alderman for climate, green, public space and mobility of the municipality of Tilburg, spoke about the importance of sustainability in his city. He emphasised how greening outdoor spaces fits within Tilburg's broader climate strategy and referred to the many green initiatives the municipality has now rolled out.

Anika Ramamurthy, Sustainability Manager at Bauer Media Outdoor, also underlined the relevance of this development within company policy:

"Since 2018, we have been building a green network. With the concession in Tilburg, we launched almost 50 new green stops in early 2022. Now that we are at 700, this shows that sustainability is embedded in our infrastructure."

Why sedum roofs?

Sedum roofs contribute to a better urban climate in several ways:
